Illuminated SBB indicator for System N signals, designed to complement compatible signals and reproduce the numerical and auxiliary indications characteristic of this Swiss signalling system.
The indicator incorporates a yellow LED and features a lateral slot in the display for the selected indication. The set includes one photo-etched brass sheet containing the numbers 3 to 14, the letter V and a horizontal line. The required insert is cut from the photo-etched sheet and inserted laterally into the display.
The housing combines high-quality 3D-printed plastic with structural elements in photo-etched brass. Its dimensions are 5 × 5 × 5 mm and it is designed for N scale (1:160).
It is compatible with SBB System N signals prepared for the installation of an indicator. The resistor and diode are supplied but must be soldered after fitting the indicator to the signal. The resistor is connected to the negative pole (–) and the diode to the positive pole (+). Without the resistor installed, the LED must not be connected to more than 2 V; once the supplied components have been soldered, it can operate at 16 V DC.
System N uses numerical indications to provide information about permitted speeds. Depending on the signal aspect, the number can announce a speed that will apply ahead or indicate the speed applicable from the signal itself.
The same indicator can also reproduce certain auxiliary indications. The supplied photo-etched brass sheet allows the appropriate indication to be selected for each signal, with the corresponding insert cut out before being fitted into the display.
The speed indicator is one of the most characteristic elements of the Swiss System N. It allows more complete and realistic signalling configurations to be reproduced, adapting each signal to the required speed or indication at a specific point on the layout.
